Police Meet Little Snakes and Cranes!
The Meridian Centre's youngest Students the Little Snakes and Cranes (5-7 year olds) were visited by officers from Leigh Police Station and they loved every minute of it....the Snakes and Cranes enjoyed it also!
Part of the Snake and Crane curriculum is to learn life values and interact with community role models such as the Police, Fire and Rescue and Paramedics as this introduces them to the authorities in an informal way and teaches them that the services are there to help them should they need them. The children really enjoyed meeting the Police officers, trying on the hats, holding the protective vests, listening to the walkie talkies and asking the officers questions about the Police and what they do.
Instructor Steve Carpenter said "some of the kids questions were fantastic, from helicopter and boat questions to how baddies are arrested!"
The Officers took the children through safety and awareness techniques, stranger danger and what to do if ever they got lost. All the group learned valuable lessons and feel like the Police are their friends now and are looking forward to the Firemen next term!
The Meridian Centre would very much like to thank Leigh Police Station for sparing their time to enhance the children's outlook on the Police and personal safety.
